- Plug-ins: You may need certain plug-ins and players from the MyMathLab Browser Check (also found inside your course)
All MyMathLab for School courses support both Windows or Macintosh operating systems and a supported version of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, or Safari. View all supported configurations.
Chromebooks work with MyMathLab for School, however select features will not be accessible due to the fact that Chromebooks do not allow for the download and installation of third party plug-ins. These features include:
- Pearson Lockdown Browser
The Pearson Lockdown Browser feature is designed to prevent students, when enabled, from accessing other sites or applications while working on an assessment. On a Chromebook, Students are still able to complete assessments, but teachers cannot use this browser lockdown feature. If this is a concern, then it would be advised that assessments be administered in an environment where screens are easily visible to the teacher, or use a computer lab with desktop or laptop computers.
- TestGen plug-in
While the TestGen program will still be offered with many of our titles, the TestGen plugin is no longer supported. The TestGen plugin is no longer needed since TestGen item banks are contained directly with the MyMathLab for School Homework/Test Manager.
- Mathematica-based eBooks (Briggs/Cochran Calculus titles)
This feature is specific to a limited selection of titles such as the Briggs/Cochran Calculus titles. While the Wolfram enabled etext is not compatible with Chromebooks, there is also an HTML based etext available that is compatible with Chromebooks.
To see what plug-ins may be required for your course, view the Browser Check for your course.
iPads and Tablets: MyMathLab for School supports the use of iPads and tablets. For more information, visit Mobile Support.
If you are using an unsupported mobile operating system, or if your students need to access media not supported by mobile devices, many customers report that they have successfully used the free Puffin Academy app from CloudMosa Inc. The Puffin Academy app can be downloaded from iTunes store or Google Play.
Pearson is not responsible for the availability, pricing, functionality, or upgrade models of mobile apps that it does not develop. We also cannot guarantee that a non-Pearson app will work from within your institution's firewall.
